We are here to support you every step of the way, ensuring every outing is stress-free and enjoyable.
Margaret's story: Finding freedom again
For over two years, 74-year-old Margaret from Whipton rarely left her house. After a severe arthritis diagnosis, she had to start using a mobility scooter. While the scooter gave her a physical way to move, she felt incredibly nervous about using it. "I was terrified of getting stuck on high curbs along Pinhoe Road," Margaret recalls. "I also felt guilty when going out with my family because I felt like I was constantly holding them back or blocking the pavement. Eventually, it just felt easier to stay indoors looking at the same four walls." Everything changed the Friday Margaret gathered the courage to join INDEPENDENCE ON WHEELS for a meetup at Heavitree Pleasure Ground. Instead of feeling like a burden, she found herself in a smiling pack of friends, all understanding her journey.
